In recognising achievement and commitment to learning, the Learner of the Month Award for July 2010 goes to James Fogarty.

James works at Brighton and Hove City Council, and started his Business and Administration Apprenticeship with BHTA in July 2009.

James has been nominated by his assessor Philippa Kinsella, as follows:

"I am nominating James as my Learner of the Month, not only because he is enthusiastic and conscientious, but because when he sets himself a goal he is determined to achieve it.

Before being taken on by Brighton & Hove City Council, James was not sure in which direction he wanted to go. As I got to know him I could see he was determined to take advantage of this employment opportunity, and he regularly submitted a high standard of work for me to assess. I have observed him in his workplace liaising with colleagues and have seen his confidence grow. James has taken on the planning and organisational skills required to complete this qualification successfully and the opportunity to work towards an Apprenticeship with BHTA has given him the confidence to take up further training with the Council. These courses have complimented the Apprenticeship qualification and have enabled him to follow his chosen career path."

James says, "Now that I have completed my qualification I am now required to study for my proposed career in Accountancy. Without the help and support of BHTA this would not have been possible."
